I recently celebrated my birthday. To my surprise my husband gave me a pair of diamond earrings. I squealed with glee, and he asked me if I was going to save them for special occasions. It made really think about the term special occasion, and it also made me think of my mother. She was always saving something for a special occasions. She saved the china, table linens, silver and flatware for that very special occasion.
I gave her a black leather handbag for Christmas in 1980. She said she was going to save it for a special occasion. She passed in October of the following year. When we were giving away some of her things I found the handbag in its original box. She had never carried it. That was a pivotal day in my life. That was the day I decided that every day is a special occasion. Every day is to be celebrated. Stop waiting for your life to start. Realize that this is your life and every day is a gift from God. Don't get me wrong I am not suggesting reckless living, but what I am suggesting is living fully, and enjoying every minute of your life.
If there is something you want to buy, and can afford it-Buy It!
If there is something you want to do-Do it!
If there is somewhere you want to go-Go!
If there is something you want to say-Say It!
You are so special so make it your goal to make every day a special occasion.
