Plano, TX – Take one accountant with a degree in sociology, add a half hour bus commute to downtown Dallas, and what do you get…a funny line of baby and maternity clothing - what else? "I'd been trying to come up with a business idea where I could use my sense of humor." A twist on the motivational plaques and posters that seem to grace every office and cubicle seemed a natural:
PHILOSOPHY
‘The unexamined life is not worth living.
Could you please check my diaper?'
MOTIVATION
‘You have to learn to crawl before you can shop.'
MOVE IN SPECIAL
‘First nine months free.'
The name of the business tries to reinforce the idea that what a baby wears can be decorated with the parent in mind. "They are the ones looking at the bib. The parent is trying to feed the baby; the baby just wants to see the dog chase food. It's the type of situation that requires comic relief!"
At Babies Can't Read, the concept is simple: funny expressions, printed on quality products. Baby shower invitations and birth announcements will be added in the future.
